Seen from above from Taipei 101, the building forms a 'double ten' shape. The Taipei City Government is the city's executive body and was established in October 1945. On 1 July 1967 Taipei became a special municipality. After that, mayors were at first appointed, and from 25 December 1994 they were elected.
