As it lies beside Xiangshan, it was renamed Xiangshan Park to better reflect its setting and public wishes. The park is home to the Taipei tree frog, the only protected species named after Taipei. Many of the park's facilities therefore use the frog's motifs or colours: frog footprints set into the ground, frog silhouettes on the lamps, and the colours of bench armrests and of the walls and ceilings of the public toilets. The outer wall of the toilets, next to the children's playground, has a mural of flowers, grass and tree frogs by the painter Zeng Risheng. The playground's design concept is 'Tree Frog Adventure': flat areas and a central landscaped mound represent the frog's three habitats of water, land and trees. The mound combines climbing walls, climbing ropes, slides, holes and steps, so that children can make up their own games. There are also climbing nets for older children, including a rope bridge with footboards, a spider's web net and an X-shaped net. There are three kinds of swing: standard swings for children aged six and over, enclosed swings mainly for under-sixes, and Taiwan's first two-person swing, which two children or a parent and child can ride together.
