    "description_en": "Zhongshan Hall was formerly the Taipei Public Hall. Built in 1936, it was designed by Ide Kaoru, head of the building and repairs section of the Government-General in the Japanese era. It was one of the few large public buildings in Taiwan at the time. In 1945, with victory in the War of Resistance and Taiwan's Retrocession, it was renamed Zhongshan Hall. After the government moved to Taiwan in 1949, it served as the meeting hall of the National Assembly and the chamber of the Legislative Yuan. In 1969 it passed to the Taipei City Government under the Department of Civil Affairs. In 1992 the Ministry of the Interior listed it as a Grade 2 national monument, and in 1995, after the Cultural Heritage Preservation Act was amended, it became a city monument under the Taipei City Government. In 1999 it was transferred to the Department of Cultural Affairs. Its Main Hall and Guangfu Hall became major performing arts venues in the city, and the Taipei Traditional Arts Season, the Children's Arts Festival and the Taipei Film Festival are held here every year. In 2011 the interior was renovated, adding exhibition rooms, the Taipei Academy and an arts salon, and the whole building was opened to visitors as a multipurpose venue for education, the arts and leisure. In 2019 the Ministry of Culture upgraded it to a national monument.",
