A stone marking the former site of Mengjia Shuixian Temple stands at the corner of Xichang Street and Guilin Road in Wanhua District. Mengjia grew into a prosperous trading settlement through water transport.

To protect sailing and shipping, in the Qianlong reign of the Qing dynasty the merchant guilds (jiao) of Mengjia raised funds to build Mengjia Shuixian Temple, dedicated mainly to Yu the Great (Emperor Yu). Later, because the temple was old and damaged, and because of the city plan carried out by the Japanese government at the time, the temple was demolished and moved, and passed into history.
