About

The National Taiwan University law school on Xuzhou Road was formerly the campus of the Taipei Higher Commercial School in the Japanese colonial period. The buildings are in a refined Western classical style.

The school gate is built of sandstone from Taipei and topped with bronze lamps, and the square inside the gate still has a pond and garden. The administration building is ornate Baroque; its front shows Greek columns and semicircular arches, and its roof is covered with Japanese black tiles, a blend of East and West. Inside, the auditorium has a wide span, and most of the lectern and seats are original. The building's plan is a courtyard form with a central patio, and the patio and campus are green, with flowers, plants and ponds.
