Xinsheng Park Rose Garden

Xinsheng Park was completed in 1978 at the junction of the Xinsheng Viaduct, Minzu East Road, Songjiang Road and Binjiang Street, and covers nearly 20 hectares. Its facilities include the Xinsheng heated swimming pool, a baseball field, basketball courts, a 'maze garden' built on environmental ideas and the 'Earth Travel Playground'. Nine statues of different sizes stand around the park, named 'Carefree Years', 'Peace Across the Land', 'Flock of Cranes', 'Hope', 'Flourishing', 'Friendship and Peace', 'Father's Words', 'The Way of Spring' and 'Unity'. For the 2010 Taipei flower exposition, Xinsheng Park was chosen as one of the four main exhibition areas. Together with the nearby Lin'antai Old House, it was planned as the 'Dream Area' (Xinsheng Park) and the 'Tea Area' (Lin'antai Old House), with a 'Flower Tunnel' of flowers, trees and bamboo linking to the Dajia Riverside Park area. The Taipei Rose Garden is in the Expo's Xinsheng Park section. The parks and street lights office of the Taipei City Government's public works department replanted the outdoor exhibition area of the wellness pavilion with roses. In 2021 three areas were added, the 'Colourful Rose Garden', the 'Breeders' Garden' and the 'Horticultural Plant Display Area', and in 2022 the 'Secret Garden' was built, with a heart-shaped water feature. As the garden is near Songshan Airport, planes often fly low overhead. The annual Taipei Rose Show brings together rose varieties from around the world, with landscaping and installation art.
