Yangmingshan Xinhai Guangfu Building

The Xinhai Guangfu Building, one of the landmarks of Yangming Park, stands among dense trees. It is an ornate two-storey Chinese-style building, built in 1971 to mark 60 years (one sexagenary cycle) since the Xinhai Uprising, and it stands at the centre of Yangming Park, a place to rest and look out over the Taipei Basin. The pond in front holds koi of many colours, and children feed the fish from the balcony upstairs. The Chinese-style design, with carved beams and painted rafters, contains many allusions and clever details. There is a souvenir shop inside. In the flower season the building is surrounded by cherry blossom, and you can stroll along the veranda looking at the flowers and the drifting mist.
