Zhongxing Guesthouse

It is now an important cultural and historical site and environmental education venue within Yangmingshan National Park, offering visitor information and guided tours. It stands on Zhongxing Road and covers about 15 hectares. The area was once natural forest, a forest park under the Yangmingshan Administration Bureau, and was used as a campsite by the Scouts Association. When the guesthouse and its outbuildings were completed in 1970, part of the forest was kept. In 1979 the Kuomintang's Central Committee on Party History moved its offices here and brought together historical materials from Caotun in Nantou and from Qingtan, along with the Director-General's historical records from the Daxi archive room and Zhishan Shuwu, so that scholars from Taiwan and abroad could consult them. From then on the Zhongxing Guesthouse was known as Yangming Shuwu. On 26 September 1997 the Kuomintang donated the buildings and their management to the Ministry of the Interior, which passed them to the national park administration. A Yangming Shuwu management station was set up, and the site opened to visitors on 27 June 1998, offering visitor information, guided tours of the guesthouse, film screenings and model displays.
