Chengmei Right Bank Riverside Park

The park lies on the Neihu side of the Keelung River, between Chenggong Bridge and Maishuai First Bridge. At weekends there is a group every few metres absorbed in the gadgets in their hands, such as remote-controlled electric cars and digital SLR cameras, and the adults are even keener than the children. The park has many sports facilities, including tennis courts, basketball courts, a softball practice ground, a skating rink, horizontal bars and fitness equipment, giving Taipei residents more room for exercise. The Caihong (Rainbow) Bridge, which links the Chengmei left-bank and right-bank parks, is bright red and unusually shaped, crossing the river like a rainbow. The cycle path under the bridge is wide, the embankment walls are covered with green creepers, and the base of the wall is wave-shaped, echoing the bridge. Lifts at both ends of the bridge go straight up to the top of the embankment, so people with disabilities, older people and prams need not climb, and the stairs have bicycle ramps down the middle so cyclists can also pass easily between the two ends. From the park you can photograph the whole of the 101 tower against blue sky and white clouds; after dark the Keelung River glitters, and many photographers gather here.
