About
Founded on 1 December 1965, the Chunghwa Postal Museum opened to the public on 20 March the following year, the 70th anniversary of Chunghwa Post. It was first housed in the former offices of the Directorate General of Posts in Xindian, after light renovation. Because the site was remote and cramped, and a planned road ran through it that ruled out expansion, the museum's development was severely limited. To support national cultural development and the growth of the postal service, a 10-storey building was built in the Nanhai Academy area of Taipei and opened on National Day in 1984.
