Huazhong Riverside Park

It is also a place to watch sunsets and birds: fish feed in the river and wild birds move among the trees. The park has various children's play facilities laid on fine sand for safety, with seating around them so parents can rest while keeping an eye on their children. In 2009 the city government set up Huazhong Campground here, with tent and car camping pitches that the public can apply to use; it is regarded as the first large riverside campsite in Taiwan. Under Huazhong Bridge, stalls selling Taiwanese snacks and traditional toys serve as a rest stop for cyclists. Beside them is a cycling practice area with courses at different levels, where children and less experienced riders can practise safely, and signs explain the basics of cycling and how to ride properly. Further downstream is a tree-lined tunnel where many people dance and exercise in the morning. There are also sports grounds, including basketball courts and beach volleyball courts, and a path along the top of the embankment looks over the grassland. There are large car parks at the Huazhong No. 1 and No. 2 gates. The park connects with Machangding Memorial Park and Youth Park nearby.
