About
Behind the Longshan shopping centre in Wanhua, the Mengjia clothing district on Dali Street is a street of ready-made clothing and a base where wholesale buyers from all over come to buy clothing of every kind. The district formed because Mengjia was developed early and Wanhua railway station is here, making travel and trade easy, so a large clothing market grew up.

In its early days there were nearly 2,000 clothing shops, handling everything from design and pattern-making to production and sales, with competitive quality and prices. Times have changed and there are fewer shops. The clothing leans towards mature women's wear, followed by children's wear and made-to-order group uniforms. Menswear has become increasingly rare and is sometimes combined with group uniforms. This is clearly different from Wufenpu, which focuses on lively styles for young women. On weekdays the streets are busy with trucks restocking and delivering and with buyers' vehicles, and some shoppers come specially to hunt for finds among the many styles of clothing and accessories.
