National Theater and Concert Hall

Taiwan's first national-level cultural complex, the National Theater and Concert Hall was completed in 1987. Its two main buildings are in Chinese palace style, with yellow tiles, upturned eaves, red columns and painted brackets. Inside are four performance halls, along with a cultural gallery and a performing arts library. Guided tours run at set times, taking visitors behind the scenes of the venue and to the Green Wall, a vertical garden. There are also bookshops, cafés, a music shop and gift shops. Rooted in Taiwan and in dialogue with the world, it holds several major international arts festivals each year, bringing in classic and avant-garde productions, and aims to be an arts and cultural complex for everyone.
