Taipei Dome

The dome is part of the Taipei Cultural and Sports Park in central Taipei, which also includes the historic Songshan Tobacco Factory area. The park covers 18 hectares in total, of which the sports area containing the Taipei Dome covers about 10.2 hectares, combining green space, woodland, sport, performance and leisure in the city centre. There are ten public artworks across the park under the theme 'Bottom of the Ninth at the Songyan Dome Ballpark'. Combining landscape, cross-media art, sporting spirit and the heritage of Songyan, they are grouped around the ideas of 'Trend' (urban trends), 'Technology' (new techniques) and 'Dreamland' (a realm of fantasy). The dome is the only indoor baseball stadium in Taiwan that holds 40,000 people. It meets international standards, with artificial turf, back-of-house areas for players, and rest and training facilities, and can host all kinds of international baseball games. It is also Taiwan's largest international entertainment venue, holding audiences of 10,000 to 40,000, with flexible stage designs and professional performance systems for concerts, musicals and other large shows. For exhibitions it has about 12,950 square metres of space for 600 to 700 standard booths, suitable for consumer and trade shows. The venue lies between Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and Taipei City Hall MRT stations and has more than 2,000 car parking spaces. For baseball, the artificial turf meets WBSC standards and new high specifications, so domestic and international games can be played in any weather. For music and entertainment, the venue has an international-grade sound system and professional overhead rigging to meet the lighting and sound needs of all kinds of shows. For large exhibitions there is room for about 700 standard booths, with 42 built-in service boxes for water, power and network connections, suitable for both international trade fairs and consumer shows. As a large multi-purpose indoor venue, it also hosts international conferences, company year-end banquets and other events.
