About
This theatre of traditional performing arts for cultural tourism, known in Chinese as 臺北戲棚, is a cultural showcase presenting traditional Chinese performing arts in Taiwan on a lasting, regular basis. Its programme covers Peking opera, glove puppetry, folk arts, Indigenous song and dance and other traditional arts, performed in rotation by Taiwanese troupes such as 台北新劇團.

Besides the shows, make-up, costumes and music from the "front of stage and backstage" are displayed, so that audiences do more than watch a show and also experience the atmosphere of traditional culture. At major festivals (the Lantern Festival, Dragon Boat Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival) extra interactive folk art activities and displays are added. Performances have surtitles in Chinese, English, Japanese and Korean, and front-of-house staff speak several languages.
