In 2015 Typhoon Soudelor swept across Taiwan. Hit by strong winds and a falling signboard, the red and green postboxes on Longjiang Road in Zhongshan District were bent to the same side at the 'waist', just like a person leaning over.

Many passers-by took photos with them, and they were nicknamed the 'leaning-waist postboxes'. They became a sensation online and an unusual landmark where people come to take photos. Besides their value as a sight and their historical significance, the postboxes still work for posting mail after Chunghwa Post assessed and repaired them.
