At the junction of Section 1 of Zhicheng Road and Yusheng Street in Shilin District, beside the Shuangxi River, this large nature park combines green spaces with historic sites. Its name dates from the Kangxi reign of the Qing dynasty, when migrants from Zhangzhou in Fujian settled in the Danbei and Shilin area; they named it after Zhishan in Zhangzhou, which it resembles in shape.

The park has remains of at least the Dabenkeng, Zhishanyan, Yuanshan and Zhiwuyuan prehistoric cultures, as well as history from the Qing, Japanese and Nationalist government periods. In the park is the old Huiji Temple, first built in 1752 (the 17th year of the Qianlong reign) and designated a Grade 3 historic monument by the Ministry of the Interior in 1979. Its main deity is Kaizhang Shengwang. Because the park has long been protected as a historic site, many old trees survive, such as the 300-year-old camphor tree beside the Yunong Reading Room, the park's most prized tree. Long weathering has also produced many natural features, such as Elephant Rock, honeycomb weathering holes, onion-skin rock, Shitougong and Snake-and-Frog Rock, all rich material for teaching geology.
