Beitou Hot Spring Museum

This public hot spring bathhouse was already well known in the Japanese era. It is built in the style of an English Tudor country house, with red brick walls and black tiles set among greenery. On the ground floor, Roman arches and columns surround the bath and sunlight falls through stained glass. The upper floor has Japanese-style rooms with Japanese-style floors, and there is a faint smell of hot spring water in the air. Thanks to the efforts of local people, the historic building was saved and became the Beitou Hot Spring Museum. The ground floor has four exhibition areas: 'Great Bath and Hokutolite', 'Beitou Bathhouse SENTO', 'Pianyu Shiguang' and 'Expo Hall'. The upper floor has six: 'Impressions of Beitou', the multimedia room, the lookout, 'The Hollywood of Taiwanese-Language Films', 'Hot Spring DOZO' and the tatami hall. From the lookout you can see Beitou Park and Beitou Library; it is a place for visitors to rest after bathing and take in the views of Beitou's hills and water. The tatami hall looks out over the whole Beitou valley and the park. Its open interior is well ventilated, with a faint smell of sulphur in the air.
