Guandu Pier

Guandu was once called Gandoumen. Backed by Guanyin Mountain and Datun Mountain and facing the Tamsui River, it was a strategically placed port. Early settlers entered through Guandu Pier to move to and farm northern Taiwan, so Guandu was developed early. Later, silt built up at the mouths of the two rivers, the Keelung and the Tamsui, and river transport gradually declined. Guandu Pier is next to Guandu Nature Park and Guandu Temple. On holidays and in the evenings, visitors stop to walk and rest around the pier, and many cyclists come from Bali across Guandu Bridge or from Tamsui.
