Monga Night Market

Monga is one of Taipei's earliest developed areas, and traditional trade and everyday food culture survive around it. The market spans Guangzhou Street, Wuzhou Street and Huaxi Street, where traditional snacks, dried seafood, fried food, desserts and household goods show the daily life of an old Taipei shopping area. A visit can start around Longshan Temple and follow Guangzhou Street and Wuzhou Street on foot to the archway of the Huaxi Street Tourist Night Market. Along the way are common night market snacks such as stinky tofu, tianbula (fish cake), squid, sweet potato balls and liquorice tomatoes, as well as displays of tea ware, crafts and traditional stalls. For photos, try the Huaxi Street archway, the neon signs on street corners and close-ups of the stalls. A half-day visit can combine Longshan Temple, Bopiliao and the old streets around them, moving from historic buildings and religious culture to night market food.
