About
Completed in 1972, the memorial hall commemorates the revolutionary deeds and character of Sun Yat-sen, the Father of the Nation, and promotes his thought. It was designed by the architect Wang Dahong.

Besides allowing people from Taiwan and abroad to pay their respects to Sun Yat-sen, it serves cultural and arts education, leisure and academic research. The building stands in Zhongshan Park, among lawns, trees and flowers, in eastern Taipei. Many arts activities take place here, such as an arts corridor, cultural and art exhibitions and work by young creators. There is also an indoor performance space for theatre, which has hosted events such as the Golden Horse Awards and the Golden Bell Awards. In the mornings older people practise tai chi and folk dance here, and on holidays families use the wide plaza for frisbee, rollerblading and walks.
