Taipei Music Center

The south site has the Pop Music Culture Hall, which uses themed exhibitions to present the history and many faces of Taiwanese pop music, and the Industry Zone, which aims to nurture Taiwanese music talent. Bringing together pop music and pop culture, the centre is not only a performance venue but a functional park built around the pop music industry, reflecting popular culture and lifestyles. The buildings were designed by the American firm RUR Architecture and inspired by the Roman Forum. Circular spaces combine art, commerce, markets and performances, with the aim of creating 'functional architecture' used in different ways around the clock by music industry workers, local residents and overseas visitors. A sculptural footbridge links the north and south sites. The three main buildings are aligned on the same level, which unifies the complex and uses sight lines to guide visitors to their destinations. The centre aims to become a new landmark for Chinese-language pop music in Asia, bringing together creative talent and clustering the pop music and related industries.
