About
Songshan Sanatorium was founded in 1915 as Taiwan's first institution for tuberculosis patients, and the director's residence came into being with it. The residence was probably built after the Government-General issued its 1922 regulation standardising official residences, when residences for senior officials had to follow specific rules.

Jingxinyuan (the former Songshan Sanatorium Director's Residence) is a Japanese-style timber building. Its weatherboarding, Japanese-style double-beam roof truss, layout and building materials mostly show construction techniques of the Japanese colonial period. The umbrella-shaped ceiling inside and the decorative pilasters on either side of the outer entrance porch are distinctive features, and the building has cultural heritage value.
