About
A well-known café, it was founded by Zhan Tianma, a famous film narrator during Japanese rule. On 27 February 1947, Monopoly Bureau inspectors carried out a crackdown around the tea house, and a cigarette seller, Lin Jiangmai, was caught and had money and cigarettes confiscated.

Lin and the crowd pleaded with them, and during the argument the inspector Ye Degen injured Lin. The crowd grew angry, and another inspector, Fu Xuetong, fired a warning shot and accidentally killed a passer-by, Chen Wenxi, which escalated the situation further. The next day people gathered at Taipei Bridge and marched to the Monopoly Bureau to petition, and this developed into the 228 Incident.
