Zhubai Approach Path

The name comes from the zhubai trees growing thickly on both sides: an evergreen tree with long, narrow leaves like bamboo (zhu) but with the qualities of a cypress (bai), hence its name. The trees stay green all year. Along the path are historic remains such as stone lanterns and an old stone pavilion, which have witnessed a century of change on this route. The path is evenly paved with a moderate gradient and suits walkers of all ages. There are several rest platforms in the middle section. Soft, natural lighting runs along both sides for walking at night, for safety and appearance, giving a calm, Zen-like mood. In summer the dense shade blocks the sun, and in winter biting winds are rare. There are no shops along the path, so bring enough water and light snacks. For a longer hike, you can finish at Zhinan Temple or at the teahouses of Maokong.
