Tian'en Temple

It is said that when the temple was first being built, a well-drilling company was hired to look for water on the site. It dug in several places, some as deep as twenty chi (traditional feet), without finding any. The chair of the committee then asked followers across Taiwan to pray together on the same night for heaven to grant water. Three days later a spring appeared at the retaining wall at the back, its water clear and sweet. In gratitude for this gift from heaven, it was named Tian'en Spring (Spring of Heaven's Grace). In the centre of the main hall on the ground floor is a smiling Maitreya Buddha, flanked by Guanyin and Guansheng Dijun. The temple holds courses and activities in spiritual cultivation, aimed at returning to one's true nature, awakening innate goodness, and helping others to stand and succeed as one seeks to oneself. It also promotes vegetarian food, and a shop beside it sells vegetarian pastries and tea snacks.
