Seven Seas Residence

The cultural park covers 3.98 hectares, with a building footprint of about 2,000 ping (roughly 6,600 square metres). Large planted green areas, public art and waterside paths surround it, the architecture is designed to blend with its natural setting, and it aims to meet the diamond-level green building standard. At its core are the historic Seven Seas Residence and the President Chiang Ching-kuo Library, with a visitor centre; together with Qihai (Seven Seas) Pond, Jiantan Mountain and a path around the lake, they make up the park. The operators run the residence on the principles of commemorating Chiang Ching-kuo, bringing the historic site back to life and carrying its history forward. The Seven Seas Residence was the home of Chiang Ching-kuo and his wife. Its furnishings are simple, reflecting his plain and approachable manner. The residence also has a visitor waiting area with displays on its chronology, artefacts, a panoramic tour of the residence, and its architecture and ecology. The First Exhibition Hall, themed 'Driving Force of Taiwan's Modernisation', presents Chiang Ching-kuo's life and family, his character, his main achievements in government and his experience of life. The Second Exhibition Hall, themed 'Reflections on the Years', takes visitors back to his era through his diaries, accounts of him by his aides and staff, and his calligraphy and paintings, showing different sides of him.
